Significance and Celebration of India’s 69th Republic Day

On January 26, which is celebrated every year in “Republic Day” in India, it is a national festival called “Gantantra Diwas” in Hindi. On this day, the Constitution of India was given, which made the country a universal, secular and democratic republic, that is officially called as “Republic Day of India”.

About Republic Day

As we know that, India certainly became independent on 15 August 1947 but did not have a constitution. After many amendments, it was accepted on November 26, 1949, and finally came into effect on Republic Day on 26 January 1950 and India became a democratic country in the world.

About Republic Day

When it was officially accepted, whose chief architect was Dr BR Ambedkar and as the first President of independent India, Mr Rajendra Prasad was nominated in the year 1950 with an oath in “Durbar Hall” Delhi. After the 21 gun salute, the national flag was hoisted at the Irwin Stadium and likewise, the tradition of flags and parades started on the Republic and Independence Day. On this Republic Day, the martyrs and heroes are honoured by the President for the prestigious awards like Kirti Chakra and Ashok Chakra on Rajpath Delhi.

Like every year, “Republic Day” celebrations include the President of India, Prime Minister, Revenue Officer and an Official Chief Guest, who is the President or Minister of any foreign country and in 1950 the first chief guest of India is “Indonesia President Sukarno”

The Grand Parade:

On this day, The parade is organized at “Rajpath, New Delhi’”. The Parade is essentially represented traditional cultural, the heritage of our country and also the competency of Indian army or military and it is a way of reward tribute to our freedom fighters or soldiers.

Placing Wreaths:

Our honorable President and Prime Minister, accompanied by Heads of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, places wreaths pays tribute to all soldiers who sacrificed their lives for freedom, at Amar Jawan Jyoti and salute with 21 cannons and rifles to honour the navy and military soldiers.

Beating Retreat Ceremony:

The Republic day celebration is celebrated for four days, 26 January to 29 January and on the final day the “Beating Retreat” ceremony is organized on “Vijay Chowk” New Delhi. It involves lots of activities, Parade, function and band with different tunes by military force.

Every Indian expatriate should apprehend the essential importance of Republic day. As Indian, citizens of a democratic country should feel pleased to be an Indian and pay honour to all those who helped our country get stronger, and better!
